part of this year’s tomato crop – two rows of determinate plants in the foreground (‘Latah’ and ‘Ropreco’), and two rows of indeterminate plants in the background ‘Sweet 100′, ‘Yellow Pear’ and ‘Red Pear’). We are once again bucking the trend of many folks planting their tomato plants really close together in an attempt to save space/get more tomatoes. Our determinate plants are spaced three feet apart, and the indeterminate plants are spaced four feet apart. Next year they’ll be spaced further still. Tomatoes breathe a sigh of relief, stretch out, and provide bountiful harvests when given lots of space.
