We’re growing a few different miniature lettuce varieties this year. Pictured at right is ‘Tom Thumb’, which apparently dates back to the 1800′s. It is growing adjacent to a row of Sugar Snap peas. I’m excited about cute little lettuces. I’m excited about growing them next to rows of peas, as we’ve had all sorts of great results with fast-growing spring greens next to peas. We’re also growing a miniature romaine this year, called ‘Pearl’. Maybe one day I’ll start a blog devoted entirely to miniature lettuces. It’ll be called:
ryannassichuksminiaturelettuceexperiences.com.
The server that will host it will probably crash fairly quickly from too many people checking out the blog at once. I’ll have to pay extra to accomodate all the world’s pent-up interest in miniature lettuce. It’ll be worth it.

Ryan—I’ve grown ‘Pearl’ over the past couple of years and love it–it’s a cute and good tasting little Romaine.
